Wedding transportation

So you have your wedding planned. Now you have to get there. Although not all couples choose to rent limousines for their wedding transportation, it is a very popular choice. If you have the money in your budget, a limousine can save you the time and effort of having to arrange transportation through friends and family.

Before calling a limousine service for information, you will need to know exactly for how many people you will need transportation. You may also want to keep in mind what color limousine you will want -- the most common colors are white, black and silver.

You will want to book your wedding transportation six months in advance of your wedding date. You should ask friends, recently married couples and other wedding professionals for recommendations for limousine companies to contact. One of the first things to find out from the limousine company is whether they are insured to transport passengers. Here are some other questions to ask:

  • Do they have special wedding packages?

  • What is the minimum rental time?

  • If you order more than one limousine, do they offer a discount?

  • Do they charge for mileage when they are driving with no passengers?

  • Are their cars owned or rented?

  • What is the driver’s attire?

  • How many weddings do they handle during a weekend?

  • Is there a backup car readily available?

  • What is included in the price? Are there any extra costs? Is there a fee for cleaning or decorating?

  • What are their refund and cancellation policies?

Make sure to get references and check out the cars you will be renting before signing any contracts. The contract should have all information in writing including cost, the exact cars you will be renting, and the driver’s duties.

Something to consider

If limousines aren’t for you, consider renting an antique car or a horse and carriage for your wedding transportation.
