Wedding Day Beauty Tips

Plan ahead for your overall beauty, makeup and hairstyle on your wedding day. It is a good idea to experiment beforehand to find the look that you want. You need to look and feel your best so you may want to seek the advice of a professional.

Hair

Coloring you hair may add flattering touches to your overall look, especially in photos. You can wear your hair up, down, or as a variation of your current style as hair spraylong as the hairstyles you choose compliments your headpiece and gown. For example, if you have an elaborate headpiece, you will probably want to have a simpler hairstyles. It is also important for the style to hold up through the ceremony and reception but using too much hair spray can make your look stiff and unnatural. Ask your stylist for advice and discuss possibilities before the wedding day and have your headpiece with you when trying out different styles.

Makeup

A very clean and natural look is recommended for today's bride. One of the best ways to achieve this look is to know your skin type. It is important to use the correct foundation for your skin type and color. If you have oily skin, choose a water-based matte foundation that will not add unwanted oil to your skin. If you have dry skin, then a fluid foundation may benefit your skin with its added oils.

Your foundation should blend in with your natural skin tone. Once you have applied the foundation, you may want to check the color in the sunlight because other types of lighting may affect appearances. You will know that you have a good match with your skin color if the foundation on your jaw line matches your neck.

To get your makeup to last throughout the busy day and look good in photos, it is important to use powder. Not only will powder "set" the makeup giving it a longer lasting effect, but it also helps in reducing unwanted shine. You may want to reapply powder throughout the day.

Your wedding is an emotional day, so everything you put on your face (especially mascara) should be waterproof and smudge-proof. Also, it is important to have a fresh tube of mascara on your wedding day because older mascara has a tendency to clump.

Nails

With the exchange of the rings, attention is going to be called to your hands. Many brides have professional manicures before their important event. You may want to consider artificial nails or tips professionally done to accent your hands. And don’t forget your feet. A pedicure and foot massage will help get your feet ready for a long day of standing and dancing.

Skin and Body

Many brides diet so that they can look their best for their wedding day. However, it is important not to starve yourself. Eating right and exercising will not only help you look great but also feel great for the special event.

If you decide to go to a tanning booth or lay out in the sun, it is important to wear sunscreen. An alternative to the sun’s rays is a bronzer or self-tanning lotion. Test these products in advance to make sure your skin looks tan, not orange.
